Not him self (sick?)
I have a 4 year old Shih tzu, who usually is a burst of energy, but since yesterday, will not eat or drink and is not himself. This morning he seems to be a little better, but still not himself. There is no vet in my town, the closest vet is 2 ½ hours away. He is not vomiting or anything, but I’m still very worried something is not right. What should I do!
What I mean by not himself is: Just lays there not playing with his toys Usually has to be sitting on someone, he is just laying on the floor Never turns down a treat, his treat has been on the floor since yesterday. Almost like he is depressed. |

It does sound like he should be seen by a vet. Pets don't have to vomit to be sick.

It sounds as if he is feeling poorly, even very poorly. I wouldn't wait for any more red flags. Trust your intuition and get in the car.
PS Please don't give him any people drugs in the meanwhile. Just thought I'd mention that |

The other thing I should mention is whenever I have taken Sprocket to the vet for shots or checkups; I have waited for the vet to come to town. The vet comes to town at the end of every month. The reason being, sprocket gets really sick when he is in the vehicle drools vomits etc. I don’t think waiting to the end of the month will is an option this time. Will I make things worse if I try and take him the way he is feeling now?

Oh poor guy, on top of everything else. I don't know what to say, adding to his suffering seems cruel, but if it is a real emergency?

Do you have any anti-nausea meds you could give him maybe? Then again, not knowing what's wrong it might make it worse ... Rescue drops! If he's calm from that, he might not drool/vomit as easily in the car, as that could be more stress related than anything.
