bad breath and sneezing

I have an appointment with my vet on Monday afternoon but I was hoping someone may have some answers for now to help put my mind at ease. I have a chihuahua and a domestic short hair cat, they both sneezed a couple of times this morning and they both have very bad breath. The vet secretary said it may just be a cold and some pennecillin may be needed. Has anyone experienced this problem before? Thanks

Bad breath can be caused by many things though the fact that both you cat and dog have the same problem would seem to indicate a common disease, allergy or food - can't say that I have experience with it myself. My dog has an infection right now and her breath is bad because of that. Maybe they are both eating something they shouldn't be?? Tarter build up on teeth is a good source of bad breath. Maybe take a look at their diets?

Maybe this article will help?

Hope it's nothing serious
