Anyone ever fed pigs feet?

I'm curious, has anyone ever fed their dogs pig feet?

Being the crazy raw food feeder I am, everytime I happen to be in the grocery store I like to check out what types of meat they have. Was in Sobey's and came across pig's feet... has anyone ever fed this to their dogs before? It was pretty cheap, but I'm not sure if it has any nutritional value?

I know people feed chicken's feet to their dogs... just not sure about pigs...? They were fairly large... I would imagine my bigger girl could handle one... not sure about the little guys.

I've wondered the same thing. Hope someone who's tried it replies. My thought was that they likely had a lot of fat in them...

It's mainly bone and skin. I guess as a recreational bone it would be ok once in a blue moon but it doesn't have much nutritional value imo. You can try feeding pork shank (the part above the foot) but that too contains a lot of skin and fat so it may cause some runny poops. Our guys are power chewers so I tend to stay away from the heavy weight bearing bones unless I only let them have it for 10-15 minutes at a time.

If pork (meat) is relatively cheap in your area, you can always feed a meal of pork muscle meat for one meal and perhaps a chicken carcass for another.

I feed them as treats once and a while. The dogs here get pretty much any part of any animal we dont use ourselves.
I wouldnt feed them as part of a meal though, just nothing there really.
Horse hoof trimmings are my dogs all time favorite lol. The Farrier at the barn thinks I'm a nut when i start filling up a feed bag of trimmings but hey 'treats' are treats for the dogs right
As for feeding pork, I dont feed much pork as it is quite fatty, nothing to do with tricinosis (sp?) that many will talk about but only due to the fat in it.

Raw foods are good but you also want your dogs to be safe... I think bones (raw bones) that are big enough for your dog to swallow is better than small bones IMO... I feed my dog pig feet once in a while.. Don't let your dog bite on it for a long time as it could splinter and may cause intestinal blockage...

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input! I also had figured they would probably be pretty fatty and not have any real nutritional value to them... just figured I would ask around and get some opinions!

I've given them as chew treat a couple of times instead of a cookie treat.
