cat genetics

I have 2 blue-cream cats. I want to know if the skin under a cat's hair is similar to the fur color. Their hair is blended gray and tan, so what color would their skin be? My other cat, a cream tabby, has stripes-would his skin reflect this?

cat skin colour

I am not a cat genetics expert...but it seems to me that cat skin is pretty similar in colour.....beigy-white-pinkish. but the tones can vary widely.

I don`t think fur colour has much to do with skin colour. And for sure your striped does not have striped skin.

But why is this important. The cat`s skin will be covered in fur anyway.

Just thought I should tell u my son says I am wrong that the color i am seeing is the new hair growth and not the skin after all. I still think the skin is striped but will not argue wit hhim about it.
