Cryptosporidium, "Beaver Fever", Giardia Lambia

Can this be passed from dog to dog?

For example, dogs may accidentaly eat cysts as they lick around theenvironment or lick other dogs' coats (particularly if the other dog has diarrhoea).

Please remember Giardia can be passed to people too.

Here in the warmer climates it is very common. We do live in a petri dish. There was a vaccine availible a few years ago and Ciara did have the series after her first bout with the bugger But I do not think it was effective. She has contracted it again. As for the vax, I can't find anyone who carrys it any more. I could order it myself but why? * Another question to the list for Dr. Stapler*
Limit exposure. Animals want to smell where another has been. It's nature. I have no idea how "other" pet owners treat their kids, from experience I have found they do not treat them as well as I do.
Call me an over protective mom. This I can deal with.

You kidding?

Some dork took their dog to a park when it has Giardia and they knew it (DUH)

Well atleast the owner told you about it!

If you're worried and your dogs not feeling well, gets diarrhea and such then you should go to the vets. Flagyl (Metronidazole) is the common treatment for it and it clears up quickly.

I hope you told the person off!
