question about sexually activity...

I wanted to know when do cats become sexually active or curious? I have 2 kittens both 6 months old, one male and one female. I have not had them spade/neutered yet, should I wait or get is done ASAP??? Can someone please let me know.

Thanks,

ASAP! Female kittens can get pregnant at less than 6 months old. There is no reason to wait, and every reason to do it now.

You should spay them. Before they start making babies and marking your house.

Pet tip went up yesterday on cats marking through urination.

http://www.pets.ca/pettips/tips-47.htm

Get your cats spayed/neutered now, hopefully BEFORE sexual maturity...and you may be able to avoid problem spraying behaviours. Even if sexual behaviours have started...get them altered now...before these behaviours become difficult to deal with.

My vet likes to neuter at 8 months old and that's when my cats were done.I have three males and I think Chico and Rocky are gay Chico will entice Rocky to go after him and Rocky will grab him by the neck, just like he would a female, but I had that happen with other cats,so I guess they grab what they have
Rocky also has a problem with spraying(or I should say I do)..He is now on an anti-anxiety drug, mostly because he attacked me in a crazy moment(twice in 2yrs),seeing another cat in HIS backyard and I ended up in the ER with a bad infection.
Lucky told me it is called displaced aggression,or something like it.
So,we'll see what the drug does,if it helps.Since he is not a pill-cat,I have a gel to put in his ear, easy and covenient and not causing to much stress on Rocky.here he is,looking anything but stressed

Rocky is just gorgeous - I love those big tabby tommies!

Cats usually do not show stress in the same way we do. For example, I have an extremely feral cat I'm in the process of trying to tame enough for adoption.

She seems calm enough, and lets me pet her now. However, she is overgrooming her tail, and that is a sign of stress.

Let us know how Rocky does!

p.s. Getting toms neutered at 8 months old is chancy. They are old enough to start spraying at that age, so someone who is not prepared to deal with that should get them done at 6 months.
