Question Do you like snakes?

Hi all, i just got myself a 3 year old corn snake, i love playing with snake and watching them move/crawl, they are somewhat easy to take care of and beautiful creatures. I probably wouldn't say the same thing if i had a rattle snake in my room lol but snakes like boa, corn, king, milk are all types of snakes i like (personal opinion)

I was wondering what you guys think about them?

Mine is ~4ft long orange, black and beige

I will be posting pictures soon.

oh he isn't scared of them *LOL* far from it, he doesn't think they are appropriate around my daycare and in all honesty , he hates to see snakes in captivity, as he says, a useless pet unless you are studying them. they don't interact and they don't seek out friendship, not even from their own kind.

Bastien,I love all animals including snakes, but I prefer to think of them free in their own habitat, not in a glass-cage.
I am not criticizing you or your choice of pets,it's just my opinion.

I agree, i also think snakes are better off in their own habitat. I wouldnt take a snake from the wild and bring it into my home. To be honest i wasent really planning on getting a snake, i was looking to get a aquarium with fishs but saw him and decided to go with a snake instead.

The previous owner didnt have time for it so i decided that it would be better if i took him into my home

Live mices since that's what he's use to eating, one every 7-10 days

But i want to try frozen mices to see if he likes them since they are easier to feed and keep.

Hmm snakes I don't mind them but wouldn't want one in the house I have had different lizards but not that fussy on snakes. We have wild ones at the cottage and my son wanted to bring one home once and the answer was no. The biggest thing would be feeding the live mice, don't think i could feed those poor little things to the snakes. One time when my daughter was little there was a cute little black and white mouse in the snake tank, my daughter started crying and wanted me to save it from the snakeI almost did it but I kept saying to myself I don't want a pet mouse..

HAHA I love it!! But beeing french, when i say it, it sounds kind of weird I know how its supose to sound but i just cant prenouce it right lol...

Some people told me to go with the name "MAZE" since snake scales are like a crazy maze and the fact that alot of maze are made out of corn (cornsnake). Im not sure about this one.

I always find it hard to find a good name for my pets lol

Bastien, I do like snakes, but they are not something I would have as a pet for myself. Yours is lucky to have a new home, I hate the "no time" excuse no matter what kind of animal it is, it seems so few people are prepared for a proper commitment.

Melinda, where on earth have you established your mouse sanctuary? No owls? No hawks? No wild snakes? No cats?

Too cute, Melinda. I sure hope she doesn't bring you home a snake some day and ask to keep it as a pet in a bucket or you'll be left with a terrible dilemma.

Yes im planning on getting a bigger one soon. At first i tought it was pretty big but when i see him moving arround in it, it doesnt seem so big anymore.

But here is some info i found on http://www.reptilecare.com/CornSnakeCaresheet.htm

Most adult Corn Snakes will live comfortably in a 20-gallon tank provided that you let them out for exercise. Bigger is always better in this case though and a 30-gallon or larger would be very nice.
