Thank You For Helping Buster !!

I just wanted to thank everyone for helping Buster find his forever home!! Yes he just left with his new family, and all looked very happy and excited!!

I know we often don't see eye to eye, and many of us have had differences of opinion, and sometimes bicker on the forum, BUT when push comes to shove, and an animal needs help, everyone can put their diiferences aside for the sake of an animal in need, and all come together, to help!!!

First I want to thank Frenchy for getting me in touch with the person who actually adopted Buster, and for all her support through out this whole process !!

And I want to also thank Kristen for offering to drive all the way to Toronto to give Buster a new home!

I would also like to thank everyone else, for their well wishes, kind words, bumps and cross posts!!

Yay he's off to his new home! I'm overjoyed he found a family who WILL love him.

Do you think they will send you some pictures of him in his happy home?

No problem, and if things don't work out with his new family, I am still willing to do that, provided of course, that he and my dog get along ok.

happycats, I'm curious to know how Buster's former owners did the switch over. I know they were probably ecstatic to get rid of him, but did they even look a little bit sorry to see him go?

Nope they helped load the trunk with his milk bones and blankey! The man said "I'm gonna miss my baby" and my DH spoke up and said, You never gave a crap about that dog, your only going to miss beating him!!

3 of the 4 kids were busy with friends and didn't even stick around to say bye, and the fourth kid was whining and complaining to his parents to hurry up cause he wanted to go dirt bike riding!! These are our future pet owners

Amanda said she would keep me updated and send plenty of pics!!
I'll keep everyone posted!

Wow what scumbags! I'm so glad your hubby spoke out. Good! Neighbor looks like he didn't want to look like a bad person, but I bet he didn't count on anybody calling him out.

It's sad about the kids. These are the future neglectors:sad:

Great news that Buster is finally going to have a home that he deserves. I wonder if your neighbours miss him at all. I hope they don't go out and get another one that you'll have to rehome again.

I can't believe he had the audacity to say that...imagine if he had not "loved" the dog!!!!

It all worked out great in the end thanks to many caring people who did give a damn

Buster update!!

Got my first update!!! Buster spent the whole week-end outside with his new family helping rake leaves, he has also met 7 new dog friends!! And only disliked one, unfortunately it happens to be his fur cousin also named Buster. His new family has also arranged many playdates with neighbourhood dogs to help socialize him. They also tell me he is amazing with their cats (I already knew that!) and is very quiet and calm and well behaved in the house!
they are trying very hard to keep him well excercised and to challenge his smart little mind at the same time, so he doesn't get bored!!

I'm sooooo happy for Buster boo!!

Buster Update

Hello Everyone,

My name is Amanda, and I am Buster's new mom! Happycats let me know how interested everyone here was in hearing about Buster's new life, so here it is! Buster is an amazing little dog, and it breaks my heart to think of how he spent the first year of his life. Thank goodness he had Happycats to save him.
Anyways, since we brought him home 2 weeks ago, his fear and aggression have disappeared for the most part. At first he was quite skittish around men, and rather agressive with other male dogs, but he now wants to greet everyone he sees, and has made friends with many of the neighbourhood dogs. We do "lessons" everyday, and we sneak into a fenced off tennis court for an hour or so each day and run like crazy.
His new vet says he's a little malnourished, so we're working on fattening him up a little--I'm thinking of putting him on the BARF diet--do any of you guys have any experience with it? If so, I'd love to hear some feedback.
Well, I'm not sure how to post pictures yet, but once I figure that out, I'll show you guys some of Buster in his new home.
Thanks everyone for your interest and concern for Buster--it really touched my heart to see it here.

Welcome, Amanimal!!

Sounds like Buster is adjusting very well under your loving care. You're an for giving the little guy a home!

that one of our BARF people will chime in soon. (hazel has 8 and her freezer isn't big enough for her to go raw )

I am looking forward to those pics of Buster enjoying his new lease on life!

How wonderful to hear he's so happy in his new home! And to know he's made some doggy friends is even better. It's shameful he was treated the way he was, and now to hear he wasn't even being feed a proper diet just makes knowing he's out of his former home an even better thing!

Go here:

http://www.pets.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=53

There is a lot of information in that sub-forum and you can post any specific questions about food you have. There are a lot of people here feeding a raw diet to their babies.

I'm looking forward to seeing Buster in some happy pictures and reading about all the fun he's having!
