Orijen Cat and Kitten dry food
Anyone feed their cat this and what their experiences have been?
I just got a new kitten, and also have a 3 year old, who have both been eating Wellness dry Chicken, but I'd like to switch to something more kitten-aimed (plus I'm concerned about the rice content). Since I know my adult will just end up eating from both dishes anyway, I thought this would be a good choice since it's for both. Also, anyone in Ottawa know a good place to buy it? My current local isn't listed on the Orijen site, but I'll check in store anyway plus call around to others, but I just wanted to get a hint of what the price might be around. The only pricing details I can find locally online is that Sandy Hill Pet Food Co-op sells the 7kg for $50. Is that about average? Thanks. |

What about feeding your kitties wet food instead of kibble? Even though Orijen is less objectionable than many other dry foods, the best choice is to eliminate kibble and stick with either a quality canned food or raw diet (or combination of both). Lots of info at these links on why wet food is important for felines:

The oldest refuses to eat it in any form, and I've been giving it to the kitten, but she still goes and eats from my 3 year old's dish, so she's getting roughly half/half each a day.

You can try converting the 3 year old to wet by adding a little bit to his dry food and then gradually increasing the wet and decreasing the dry. Put a bit of wet in her bowl and then top it off with kibble.

I might try that. How much do you all estimate it costs you per cat/month on a wet only diet?

In the catinfo link above there are tips on how to transition kibble-addicts over to wet food. Key word is *patience*.
