The Snows Of July . . . .

Pete and Ruby took a hike yesterday, July 7, up Ptarmigan Cirque in the Highwood Pass of Alberta's Kananaskis Range, not too far from Calgary.

Lots of snow still there.

Ruby (left) and Pete enjoy the view and the chance to cool down. I was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and running shoes and was still hot!!

Below, on the way higher with Pete and Ruby.

Flowers were blooming where the snow had disappeared.

Ruby looks back the way we came. This is probably about 8,200 feet above sea level and a popular, short hike.

Below, at home, Pete watches Polly, our two-footed, handicapped cat, intently. She'd caught four mice in an hour from a hole coming out of our deck and he knows it. Polly has her front feet but her back feet have been amputated.

What lucky dogs you have to live in such a beautiful place to roam free.
Great photos and beautiful dogs! I sure wish we still had some snow. My dog is having a real hard time with the heat.

Awesome pics, Rick! Just what I needed to cool off! It's been bloody hot here....

Love the snow pics--and Pete's way-back-legs as he cools his belly! Wish I were there!
