kitten nibbling on litter

i adopted 2 kittens from a friend and they are both 9 weeks old, and one of them loves to nibble on cat litter (cant tell if hes actually eating it) before going is this a big problem? because im kind of worried that he will continue to eat the litter even while i am sleeping when he uses the bathroom and i dont want him to get sick.

Until your kitten gets older and grows out of this common habit please use non clumping litter. Clumping can cause intestinal and bowel obstructions leading to death.
