How to express anal glands

My female puggle is needing to have her anal glands expressed quite often it seems, my vet charged me $60 to do it and if this is a common thing I don't want to be spending that much.

Is there a good technique?

Any help please!

I've heard some vet's will show you how to do it. I've also heard of groomers doing it as well- they might charge less then the vet for that too.

This is true. However the methods that are employed by groomers are typically an external method while veterinarians typically will use an internal method. Internal method is more complete and does require the use of latex gloves. Both techniques are fairly straightforward.

Thanks guys!

How much normally comes out? A lot or sometimes a little? If the glands are swollen how much should? I just don't know how much to do for it to come out.

Did you check out the videos? They show everything close up. You will see the amounts too.
