Black mark on anus

My 2 year old puggle has a black line on her anus and it's been there for about a month. She does not seem to have any discomfort or anything. I looked up anal gland problems and she does not have any of the other symptoms. Money is a bit tight so I know I should take her to the vet, but she does not seem to be in any discomfort and everything is normal as usual (in terms of eating etc.,)

Should I be worried?

Have you tried wiping with a warm wet paper towel? Are you sure it's not just some stuck dried poop or blood?

Occasionally fissures (almost like a crack in the skin) happen from straining/scooting & they may bleed a little or get some poop stuck in them.

I just tried doing the hot compress on it and it is not wiping away. Whenever she tenses up (ie: when she's nervous as she is a skiddish dog) it tenses up and her anal muscles clench and we can't see it. But when she's relaxed you can see this little black mark.

She sometimes gets constipated though so perhaps it is just a fissure. Do you think I should just try bathing her and really just soak her bum?

If she'll let you & you be sure to dry & warm her up right away, it wouldn't hurt to try and if it is a fissure then this will clean out anything stuck in there. Make sure the water is nice & warm - not too hot not too cold, & don't have her in for too long, and use dog shampoo not human as it is too drying to their skin.
