Some Garden Randoms
This is the first yr Ive been in charge of the garden and though I dont know what Im doing, I am trying my best. Dont even know what half the plants are called tried my luck at a small veggie patch too. We usually leave in the summer so apart from having our grass mowed evrything else is usually left to the elements....some of our neighbours have commented to me that our front yard looks pretty though yay me! lol
From the backyard (which is still a jungle of weeds ) mystery plant one. Pretty but kind of all over the place. Lilies Mystery plant 2. Dad planted this a few yrs back. One yr it had flowers. The next it didnt even grow any leaves and kept getting whacked by the mower. This yr I tried to take care of it in the spring and it decided to grow again yay miracle grow lol

Mystery plant 3. Growing randomly under one of the trees..a weed?? Grape vine! Big bro B and I planted this together maybe 4 years ago. We planted it for the leaves really mmmmm stuffed grape leaves. Also doing well this year. I think I need to figure out more support for it though. It produced some grapes last yr but they never ripened.

Oopsiee. Maybe I shouldnt have fertilized it with some ultra bloom in the spring. Last yr it had about 2-3 grape bunches going...this year its brimming with them!!! uhoh...prob gonna have issues there. Maybe I should cut a few off? I really didnt think it would actually make a difference!
Tomatoe! yay..my first ever. Btw the white stuff at the base is egg shells from my boiled egg breakfast. I remember reading somwhere they were good for the garden so i just put them there along with the cooled water the egg was boiled in. So excited for these

One of your mystery flowers #2 is a pink Clematis. A good vine plant that needs support as it grows.
The yellow lily bunch is Daylily (Hemerocallis) named "Stella d'Oro." Flowers only last about a day then they die off. To keep it looking fresh, pluck the dead ones as often as you can, and don't let them go to seed. It's a kind of rounded triangular seed pod - just snap them off. But be careful, sometimes there are 4-6 flower buds per flowering stalk. If prevented from going to seed you'll make the plant think "oh no I haven't been successful in making seeds, I should keep trying." And with luck and right conditions, she'll continue popping out new flowers. Mine haven't started blooming yet. I want to say that the variegated leaves and flowers is a Weigela, but not 100% sure. You've done a wonderful job with the garden and everything is beautiful!

Wow,very pretty Onster
I too think the first one is a Wegelia I have a bush too,but a dark red and not varigated leaves. The Clematis,I always cut down to about 2 feet in the spring and it will bloom every year. I also have a couple of Stella d'Oros it's the only Lily I have that blooms all summer. Good Job Onster

Mystery plant 2 looks like a clematis
I have a mystery plant 3 and CearaQC is right, need pictures of the leaves. My neighbor gave me a clump a couple years ago and it has spread like wild fire! Once the flowers are spent and in the fall, my mystery yellow flower's leaves turn red. I'll have to ask her again what the name of this yellow flower was and see if they are one in the same. All in all-looks like you're onto something Onster.

I didnt know they were called mulberries..all i know is theyre yummay We had a tree in the middle east that gave us berries that stained like these and tasted pretty much the same. I havent seen that tree at all in Canada but its not umbrella shaped like the mulberry, but rather a full on tree you can climb and all (our gardener used to climb it to bring us buckets and buckets of the berries ). I remember all the neighborhood kids used to jump our garden wall to pick the berries lol

Beautiful gardens onster. Personally, I love the yellow flower. If I am not mistaken, and I often am, it is related to St. John's Wort. Rose of Sharon is in the same family. It is easily controllable if you deadhead the flowers once spent before seeds form. I have it in a few different areas of the gardens.
If you could please, take a picture of the whole plant. It would be easier to ID that way. Great job!! Now you can come and work on mine.

Onster, you don't HAVE TO leave the Mulberries for the birdswe do because we don't like them.
We keep ours in an umbrella-shape. I still have a bunch of the Yellow flower, right beside my composter. 14+I think it's ok to keep them,if you have the space you have, but they tend to take over a limited space like mine.

Hi
Beautiful gardens! The clematis like a high Ph and they like to have their roots cool, so put some mulch around them to keep them cool. some clematis need to have fresh growth to grow flowers on, some need old growth to have the flowers grow. The mint u could plant in a pot and plant the pot in the dirt so that it won't spread so badly. The evening primroses will spread too, so keep an eye on those. I loved mine, but they didn't come back this year. If u put a tbsp of epson salt in a gallon of water and give it too the tomatoes when the tomatoes are close to ripening they will ripen faster. The epson salt also makes the foliage greener. I have to do that up here in zone 2 as our summers are so short. Also if u bury a peel from a banana in the hole before U plant a tomato they grow better. When u are planting a tomatoe plant, if u take the leaves off along the stem and bury the plant deep, the stem will grow roots all along the stem and make the plant stronger. Debbie
