Separation anxiety!
My sweet lil 7 month old GSD is crated or so
We thought. First crate he outgrew over night Second crate made by KONG XL was told by salesperson and I quote" If he breaks out of this, you need to buy a stable" first day in, came home He greeted me at the door, the side door of The crate was on the floor, OK... Two can Play at this, wired the door shut. second time I left and came back, his entire floor was in pieces. I brought back and Pet Smart graciously laughed and exchanged it, brought it home, set it up and left for a few hours, came back and His floor was a jigsaw puzzle. So.....to make a long story short. does anyone know where I can get a solid steel floor 48l x 30 w ?

When i bought a cage years ago it was to allow my cats access to the balcony.
The cage was steel and was large enough for a GSD. The bottom of the cage had a large steel pan that acted as a floor. It looked similar to this http://www.uk-dog-cages.com/large_dog_cages_black.htm Not sure what cage petsmart sold you or if I am misunderstanding, but imo no way any creature without an opposable thumb could get out of it. I might look at another petstore to see if they sell a more solid cage. Good luck

I locked up Marty's crate at night so he can't have any more water . Marty tried to open the door , he know how to do it but he is too small to unlock the door. I did not like the crates Pecto sells, they're really poorly made and from China. Maybe the OP could look on Craglist and see if anyone is selling a heavy duty metal crate. I tried to find a small metal crate for Marty at a few pets stores and had no luck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkYaw...1&feature=fvwp http://www.bestpetcrates.com/categor...FUSK4AodeCYT3w here is a link for extra heavy duty metal crates, they cost a lot more. But I think you have to pay more these days to get anything that will last . Everything is made so poorly today as it's not made in USA anymore. |

Thank you everyone! The vet sold me an
Anti-anxiety medication an am using a thunder Vest. I have to ge a new floor but with both Items, so far it's working, shhhh just don't Tell Shiloh. This lil 7 month old already weighs 65 lbs! So being one step ahead is a challenge. Funny how the breeder won't call me back, goes To show guilt.

Dogs or cats can calm down almost imediately when you use a Thundershirt. My Lab began to get anxious with thunder storms a couple of years ago. The Thundershirt works like charm. Take a look at their website.

We just bought Loki a thundershirt within the last month or so - it's helped immensely! He isn't 100% calm, but he's no longer climbing all over us during those thunderstorms. I'm a definite believer!

That's impressive for sure - but the cage's lock is stupidly designed. the one I had, had its latch open horizontally and it was difficult to open.
That thundershirt concept sounds very similar to techniques and products invented by temple grandin to ease the stress of livestock. I've read about her quite a bit and given the success she's had with livestock, this product makes 100% sense to me.

Thunder vest / shirt
Its a light vest that wraps around the dogs
Chest and calms them right down. It breathes with The dog, its not constricting. It helps with Separation anxiety, thunder storms, some Behavioral problems. 100% guaranteed. Personally. This is my first And I recommend them. It's like wrapping A fussy baby tightly in a blanket. They stop Crying and fussing immediately. Last night was my First night using it during a storm, and although he Did a bit of fussing, nothing compared to Trying to crawl up on me in the past. The vest Takes a bit of training on the human side To put it on,its washable also, and now he loves it.
