HELP flowerbed!

I have a flowerbed out front of my house and Im looking for ideas on what to plant. My entire house is white, so its pretty plain! and the flowerbed sits in the sun all day long.

Im basically looking for a low maintenance bush that flowers a bit, but wont grow to high up. Also must love hours of direct sunlight.

Does this plant even exist????

Thanks!
Sarah

SL,I have a really hard time remembering names of plants, but this is my front garden, last year,at the time needing some trimming
Ask at the nursery for bushes, then you can plant annuals or perennials to brighten up the spot.

I am garden/flower challenged. A simple yellow mum is toast with me. I also have a front southern exposure - it is absolutely vicious to tell you the truth. What has done best out front is a Hick's Yew - green and gets little berries. There is something else that is yellow and mauve - don't know what it is. As for real flowers, zinnias love the sun - actually so do Hibiscus if you can keep them alive - and how I tried. Of course there is always the snapdragon. Since your profile doesn't provide your location, you might want to check out The Garden Web site and check out country and area of country and then type of exposure, soil etc. If you register you can ask a question, or you can just search and start reading. Also an excellent site for all sorts of general information. I was able to tell my husband how to fix the outside tap!

The front area in the picture is beautiful. But you might want to add a few things that are also good for cutting. Then you will have something beautiful inside the house too. Black Eyed Susan is pretty and blooms a little later in the summer so when you think all the good stuff is done for the year you'll have those to look forward to. They are stiking to look at from the steet, I think. There are several low maintenace flowers you can grow that will be good for cutting that are very sun tolerant. The key really is to water them VERY often. Zinnias as mentioned above are an option. They are so easy you can almost literally open a package of seeds and broadcast them over some good dirt and you'll have flowers in 5 weeks. You can cut them too.

Black eyed Susan = Rudbeckia Goldsturm for a hardy perennial http://www.perennials.com/graphics/f.../1-455-030.jpg

Purple Coneflower or Echinacea is similar and does extremely well too.http://www.perennials.com/graphics/f.../1-196-990.jpg

Stella De Oro or Hemerocallis is a beautiful Lilly bush that flowers all summer with very pretty small lillies. http://gardenshed.perennials.com/gra.../1-258-820.jpg

Perennials are great and very low maintenance. Choose one's that have a long bloom time so you have color all summer. I have mutliple garden beds and they always have some hint of color. Gardening is great and can be low maintenance.
