Laser-pointer

I bought a laser-pointer for the cats, yes,I know the danger of shining it into their eyes, which I would never do...but for Rocky it was the best toy ever,he's having a ball, flying all over the house
He is like a little bulldozer won't let Vinnie and Chico play"My Toy,My Toy"kind of thing!!!
Arearugs are flying and anything else in his way,it's hilarious...he will sit looking up at the wall or checking the floor to let me know he wants to play.
Great exercise for him,I just wish he would let the others in on the game

The laser is Blazes favorite toy! As soon as he sees that tiny little red dot he goes crazy!

buy a lazer for each pet. You can tape the button to the ON position and hold them between your fingers like a cigarette that way one cat can not possibly get after all 3 lazer beams!

I use one for my Dobie....he goes nuts for it.... You wanna see area rugs fly?? How about the couch getting surfed across the livingroom!?

Daisy smashes her face in the floor trying to get it. I find it a little disturbing when things on the shelf shake. She does the same thing with flash lights. What I find really funny is when I pick up a flash-light, she instantly runs over, and when she hears the click, she goes nuts trying to find the light, so she knows what it is. Yet she still tries to pick up the spot.

We bought one off Ebay for Marty and Minou. . . it came with different 'pictures' that shine through the light. . .

Marty and Minou LOVE the 'butterfly'. . . .they are also fond of the 'UFO'

They like to play in paper grocery bags. . . I shine the light all over the place, then into the bag and they both run full tilt for the bag. . . Its very funny.

Silly Kitties!

We don't have one yet, but I've been meaning to buy one. A friend has one for her cats and she got hers for $1 and it came with 3 picture cells.

CryBaby loves to play with the laser light. I am not sure if Meater and Chino or the new kittens would play with it or not I will have to try tonight!

Best thing yet

I have a lazer for my two Shadow and Halo. Both love to chase after it and yes everything flies! It has been a great training tool for Halo though. She loves to bark when she see's dogs while we're walking so now I just say "Look" and she looks for the lazer light. Even when it's not dark out she's so excited to look for it she completely ignores the other dogs. She's so into it that now when she see's a dog coming down the road she starts looking at my feet to find the spot! I don't always have it with me, but it still works - my silly girl. It is a reward for her too when she walks nicely without pulling at things she gets a flash.

My cats love the laser!!! We get ours from the dollar store too, it just sucks cause the batteries (which die pretty quick) are more expensive than the laser itself!
We are looking for one that takes AA's so it will be cheaper to replace them.

Hey, that's quite brilliant! I may steal that idea!

That's a great idea!!! You may want to re-post on the other thread (sarahlynn, having trouble walking dog past other dogs)

As for laser pointers, I have been using them for years and my cats just love them!!

Wow,I had no idea they were so popular,I can just imagine the house if a big dog is chasing it,Rocky is enough to send things flying and he's a cat
Unfortunately I did not find one at the $$-store,I paid $11.99 +15%tax for mine,it has 3 watch-batteries....oh well,it's worth it they love it!

11.99+tax??!! Wow! That is expensive. I bought one at the dollar store, unfortunately got what I paid for, it broke only 15 minutes later. So I bought it at SuperPet for 8.99+tax. Better quality - it's been 2 weeks and it still works!

I used a couple times but felt like I was being cruel. Now that I know all you guys use it too I will be playing with it tonite.
I just thought I was being mean and teasing him.
But he obviously loves it because he will stare at the wall atleast 10 minutes after i put it away.

I thought I was the only one...

Can't find thread

Hi Happycats, can't find the thread you were talking about that I should post the lazer pointer idea to for saralynn(?) having trouble walking past other dogs. Would you either point me in the right direction or just pass that on to her thread on our behalf please. Thanks - it really has been wonderful for walking Halo as well as play time. I buy my batteries at the dollar store - 12 for $1.00 so I don't really care how long they last but it's normally at least a month or so. Thanks again. Oh yeah, I turned my doggy daycare fellow onto lazers too!

That is a great idea!

I've seen lots of people that have lasers for their cats, but I never thought about one for my dog! I'll have to go buy one! Thanks for the idea!!

My two cats go nuts for the laser. All I have to do is pick it up and shake it and they come running, even if they are at the opposite end of the house.
It is hilarious to watch them.

Sometimes when Daisy slams her paw down on it, I'll turn it off, like it is under her paw. She'll sit there for a minute, then lift her paws, and if she doesn't see it, I can practically see the giant question marks above her head as she does the puzzled Scooby-Doo "ArooH??" The cats, they tend to be funnier if you're able to time the off and on with them lifting thier paws, because they'll try to "sneek a peek" by looking under thier slightly raised paw, then slam it down again when they see it.
