Halloween
Please, Please, whatever you to on Halloween, put the cat and dog in another room.
Do not allow them near the door when treating. They can become frightened, protective, someone could get bit, and/or get out and run away. They may like to answer the door with you, but over Halloween, PROTECT them. take care binky |

Very good advice. Dogs could get touchy, scared/stressed and react and cats could run off. Good to keep this in mind
Thanks for the reminder!

They do get freaked out. I'm trying to keep His Highness in the back yard. He can bark his fool head off, but can't do much else

Well at our house the dogs love Halloween. Of course we only have Halo now, but both Shadow and Halo loved it. Neither were afraid of the fireworks or the kids. This year Halo enjoyed greeting the kids, she`d stick her head out the door when I opened it and if the kids didn`t seem bothered she`d walk out and greet them all! I do agree though that some dogs just don`t do well with it. It`s all about knowing your pets.

When we lived in the city, we used to turn off the lights, draw the blinds and disconnect the doorbell (every time it rang, the dogs would go ballistic), but we'd still occasionally get kids coming to the door. The front door had cutout windows--one at head level, one at waist level. As the kids would approach the darkened house, our mostly white setter, Gauge, would quietly stand on his hind legs to look out the lower window. We'd hear the footsteps outside stop as they saw the spooky head in the window, then kids screaming about the ghost in the window as they ran back down the drive!

Our pets would run out. I do not feel that they would attack another person but you never know. One of our cats is scared pretty easily and if he ran off we would never see him again. We make sure that when the door bell rings, they are no where near the door.
