Thumbs up Sheriffs Mom and the others ...

I would like to take a little time from everyones day to say a little prayer for Sheriffsmom and all the other volunteers who are putting their lives on the line helping the victims of the Tsunami's. These people have left their homes and families and pets without a thought to get in to the trenches and help these devestated countries and people who have nothing left. I am so proud of these workers for their love and compassion as we all should be. I hope they all return home safely and soon.

It is very courageous for them to go there-and yet also an experience of a lifetime. With all of the confusion, devastation, and heartache in South East Asia I honestly don't know if I'd be able to do it myself...I'll keep my fingers crossed for a safe return home for all of the the volunteers around the world.

I am not surprised to find animal lovers among these heroes who are so willing to give to others - the patron saint for animals, St. Francis was the same way. Here are two prayers from Saint Francis. They may remind you of Sheriff's Mom in some ways. May she take these prayers with her and return safely.

The Peace Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Prayer For Animals
God Our Heavenly Father, You created the world to serve humanity's needs and to lead them to You. By our own fault we have lost the beautiful relationship which we once had with all your creation. Help us to see that by restoring our relationship with You we will also restore it with all Your creation. Give us the grace to see all animals as gifts from You and to treat them with respect for they are Your creation. We pray for all animals who are suffering as a result of our neglect. May the order You originally established be once again restored to the whole world through the intercession of the Glorious Virgin Mary, the prayers of St. Francis and the merits of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ Who lives and reigns with You now and forever

Proud to be

I did not know she was there either. I have decided to go with Les medicins sans Frontiers next month to volunteer in a small village the organization is working in in Indonesia - it is so out of the way that we are going to be transported by the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrier. A close friend will come and stay with Yin Yin. As you know, I was hesitant to leave her but these people need my skills more for these weeks and she will recieve excellent care.

Wish me luck! I've never been to Indonesia before!

Thanks everyone! Twinmommy, on my last forways with "Les Meds", I had almost no time to go online - if I could find a connection - and this place will be very out of the way. It is in Sumatra which is in and of itself exciting! I have on Friday!! (I am getting excited!)
