Smile hellooo all!!!!! :)

Hi everyone!! I am new to the forum, happily stumbled upon you all while doing a search on kitten care

I have two cats (miao and doncat) and a turtle (mr T). Rescued 6 kittens that a stray gave birth to in the passenger side floorboard of our truck! Happy to say they are all doing wonderfully- 10 wks, healthy and happy and I'm in love with every single one of them!!! Will be adopting two of them and now sadly looking for homes for the rest. I wish I could keep them all!!!

It has been an amazing process taming these feral kittens. One I will never forget- I am thankful each day that mama cat chose our truck to give birth.

I have been feeding a neighborhood stray, zuzu, for ~6 months now. I am certain that she informed the mama cat about our garage! And she told 2 friends, and he/she told 2 friends....and so on and so on- now I find I am feeding and caring for an entire colony. I am awaiting a humane cat trap to trap the mama and as many of the other strays as I can from a local no-kill shelter. My goal is to spay/neuter these ferals and provide food/water/shelter for them for life.

I am looking forward to sharing my trials and tribulations with you all! This forum seems to be an amazing resource with a lot of caring and knowledgable folks to boot! Sorry for my rambling! Just extremely happy to find you guys!!!

It's a nice thing you are doing for these cats. My grandfather has three cats that he does the same thing for. Only one of them is allowed in the house and he is a a big baby. I can flip him over, gently drag him along the carpet by his back feet (closer to me for pets and attention, of course), pick him up etc. and he doesn't even flinch. He won't let anyone else other my grandfather and me near him. The other two are younger, brother and sister, and will only allow my grandfather near them since he has been the one who feeds them and they trust him.

Talking thanks!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome.

I feel at home already!!!

I appreciate the support with the feral colony situation- some friends and family think I have gone overboard with caring for them. I just don't buy into the whole "they can fend for themselves" attitude. After having moved in, I asked neighbors about the cats that I saw roaming around and although people complained about the situation, no one was doing anything!!!! I was inspired to action after mama cat gave birth in what we have aptly named the "delivery truck" . I know it will take a lot of time and effort to get them all spayed/neutered. But, I am very hopeful and I know in my gut I am doing what is right despite what others may say.

p.s. iRONKNIGHT: what an awesome picture!!! who's the beautiful photogenic one in the pic?

Welcome to the Board. You are truly an angel to be taking care of all those kitties - there aren't alot of people out there who would do what you are doing! Good Luck!

To be honest, I have no idea. She was actually my hubby's before we got married. Here is a picture (not that great) if you know anything about them and can enlighten me. She is about 15 years old approx. Her shell was the size of a quarter when he first got her.

Thanks for the info Catmundu. I will have to remember that if someone asks what kind she is. We have been absolutely clueless all these years. Time to update my signature to include her I guess.
