My Casey

Back in late December,Casey started drooling alot so she was taken to the vet to find out what the problem was.It turned out she has two bad teeth so she was given some medicine and an appointment was made for January to have them taken out. When she went back,it was found that she had a tumor under her tongue so they didn't pull the teeth. The vet said she probably had a month left to live. The vet was a little rude and acted like she didn't care.We think its because Casey is 12 and the vet figured it was pointless to do anything.
She was taken to another vet and this time,we were told that if she kept taking her medicine, she could live for another 3-4 years.Everything was going good and then she went back for a checkup. The vet found that the medicine wasn't working as well as it should have and the tumor hadn't shrunk very much. She kept taking her medicine and I kept hoping that she'd get better. This weekend she's taken a turn for the worse and we've started talking about taking her this week to the vet to be put to sleep.I hate the thought of her being gone from my life but I hate seeing her the way she is now.I've been trying to think of all the good times.Watching her play or having her sit on my lap and fall asleep etc... but everytime I do,I just lose it.I don't know what I'm going to do the day she goes to the vet.

Ravenheart..I am so sorry you are in this situation...I personally have not had to make that decision yet with my own. There will be many people here sending you good thoughts ....You will know when that time comes....Casey certainly is a beauty! Spend lots of time with her and give her lots of kisses!

Ravenheart, I'm so sorry for what you're going through. As you will find, there are a lot of people here who have been where you are and will understand.

Casey looks like a little sweetheart. She's gotten lots of love from you. She's given you all her love and sweet memories in return. Time enough for grief later--now it's time to snuggle and cuddle and whisper in her ears. Be strong and upbeat the day she goes to the vet and stay with her to the end. Tears later... (I know...easier said than done...)

All the years you've given her--it will be hard to let them pass--but the good memories will outweigh the sad ones.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Sweet Casey.

I have three cats and it'd be hard if it was one of the others that I was going to lose but Casey was always special. She was the one that always hung out with me and was the first one at the door whenever I'd come home from work.I just have to keep telling myself that it'll be better for her.

My Casey

Ravenheart my thoughts are with you and Casey. Pls take the time to make yourself strong and comfortable and do what's best and right for Casey.

Its been three weeks since we had to put our little boy down and although we miss him terribly and the pain hurts, I know what we did was right and the great and wonderful memories do resurface.

Ravenheart...I am so sorry to hear of Casey's illness.

Know that you are doing everything possible to make her time with you special. You will know when the time is right to send her to the Bridge...she will give you that look.

For now, love her, cuddle, snuggle and play hard!

She's gotten worse.I don't think she's going to last much longer.I don't think she has any strength left. When she tries to stand up and walk, she starts staggering and falls down and just lays there.I have a bad feeling that she may be gone by morning.I've spent most of the time since I got home from work sitting on the couch beside her and petting her but she's just laying there hardly moving.

Would you be able to take her in to emergency to have her put down. I hate to see a cat suffer.

Casey is not suffering anymore. She left us at about 8:05PM tonight. She was laying on the couch and went to stand up and staggered and fell down and that was it.I'm not exactly sure how I'm feeling right now.I've been crying so much that my eyes are hurting but I'm also at a kind of peace.I know she's better now because her pain is gone and I have to try to go on.

Goodbye Casey.I love you

Burton and her are playing - I can see it.

Take the time to heal.

Thanks cpietra16 and rainbow. It was strange coming home from work today and not having her run out to greet me.I think its going to take a little time for me to get used to the fact that she's gone.

Well Casey was taken down to my parents this weekend and buried with the other pets that have passed on over the years.I'm feeling a little better and I guess this is kind of closure for me but I know the first place I'll be going the next time I go down.

I'm sorry about your Casey Ravenheart. It's so hard to lose a pet. Both of my 18 year old cats passed away on the long weekend in may, 5 years apart. They both died at home like your Casey. I have them up in my rock garden and still miss them terribly. Hopefully you'll get another bundle of fur to love and care for again.

Cindy
