Stitches came off after minor surgery

Older Boxer Hound mix. Very Healthy
85ish pounds
He had a thing that was hanging from is belly.
He had surgery and had it removed. They cauterized it and gave him 3 or 4 stitches and glue on top of that. 2 days later 2 of the stiches came out. Now (4 days post surgery) the other stitches came out. The wound is open and seems to be weeping fine with a little bit of blood in the small amount of fluid.

We called the vet after the first 2 stiches came out and he said keep an eye and to put warm compresses on it.

It seems fine and we are not needing to give him pain meds even. Just a bit worried that it's an open wound.

Also should we cover it with an ace bandage? He is not licking it at all.
Thanks,
Sam

You'll need to touch bases with your vet before you do anything. How gaping is the wound? If it's small enough, it may be granulated enough after 4 days that it'll heal well even without stitches. But you'll want to make sure that some healing is occurring, so checking in with the vet again is your best course of action.

Do you know why the stitches popped in the first place?
