Current Events Human.. Sub-Forum?

I wonder if a section under Newspaper Stories of Interest/ HUMAN related would be beneficial? It could even possibly be amalgamated with the films idea..a Current Events type sub-forum
News/ Entertainment/ Human Interest Items.

This area for the national or global stories/ discussions of interest, while the "Off-Topic" section would hold member posts of a general nature - local, family, job or family related.
Would this be redundant, the seperating of the two? Or, would it invite too much controversy, make moderating more difficult?

I am always keenly interested to read the different points of views on todays important events - both the serious and the light.

But of course this IS a pet site, first and foremost. Maybe one area for all off -topic postings is plenty.
Just a thought?

I have to disagree with such a subforum. There are so many forums and sites out there on current events - tho we could set up a chat room to discuss them - just my opinion. I would not oppose it if it happened but I like having a place for pets.
