Question Red lump on Nikki's head

Our 6-year-old dog, Nikki, got a cut on her head about a week ago when she ran into the corner of the coffee table. It wasn't a big gash and didn't seem to bother her much. It bled a little bit, but not badly. By the next day it was scabbed over. We didn't really think about it again until yesterday. Now she's got a hard, bright red lump bulging up through the wound, which has reopened bigger than it was originally. It doesn't seem to hurt her, it's not bleeding or oozing, and it's not hot. It's a little bigger than a pencil eraser. She seems to be feeling fine, and doesn't scratch at it or anything, but it worries me. Does anyone have any idea what we might be looking at?

Sounds like it could be infected or abcessed. Might want to get her to a vet to have it checked out.

Maybe she picked up a splinter from the table when she hit it?

Hope she heals up soon!

Thanks!

I took her in to the vet yesterday. The vet says it could be an abcess or infection, but it actually looks more like a little tumor. But we're going to try treating it with antibiotics first and if that doesn't clear it up, we'll schedule to have it removed.

I hope the antibiotics do the trick so Nikki doesn't require surgery!
