When to change from puppy food to adult food
I was at the vet a few weeks ago with King and forgot to ask when should I switch his food to adult food. Can anyone help me with that. King is now 1 years old.

I switched jag to adult at 11 months.i was told the switch to adult food would be ok as Jag was at his adult weight and size for his breed.if he was under weight and size to hold off until he was.same with any breed or size of dog.don't know if it's true.we haven't had any issues with it.
Ginger is about 10 to 11 months old and is a medium size dog and i have her on the same adult food as jag. |

Thank you King turn one on April 1st and 6lbs 2oz I looked on one of the bags at the store on the one it said between 1 and 2 years so I think I am still okay to give him the rest of the bag we have and before its done mix it in with the adult food. Mind you it was not the brand I gave him, I give him innova its pretty expensive for the size of bag.

i have also heard that around the 1 yr mark is correct.
i switched around that time with my dog (large breed - malamute) had no issues, and the vet had no concerns with weight or health of coat etc. |

I've just finished weaning Romeo over to adult food (he is 10 days shy of his first birthday, it's hard to believe ). I consulted the vet first, I could have done so a bit earlier, at around 10 months safely, but I took a month to try some choices, see what he liked and what worked well, then watched his poop for the two weeks lol

Normally, you should switch to adult food when your puppy is full grown which varies among different breeds.
