Exclamation My shih tzu barks at & is scared of his water bottle

My two year old male shih tzu has become fearful of his water bottle. He drinks from a hanging bottle, like ones used with rabbits, to keep his face dry. For the past two months he has been barking at the bottle and wont drink from it until I go over and tap the bottle. It is just getting worse. Even tapping on it won't work every time now. It did fall once and perhaps the noise scared him. I can't figure out what else it would be. Is my dog neurotic? PLEASE Help. I fear he'll get dehydrated.

Why not try putting the water in a bowl, or dish.

See if that will work.

Maybe he IS scared of it due to the noise...but if the dog is thirsty...and he should be if he's not drinking, then it is very important to give him other vessels from which to drink. Dehydration is VERY serious.

Good luck
