Why do you want to? Is there a problem?

You just got this cat from the shelter right? This the same one with the eye trouble?

Cats clean themselves, I don't see a real need for you to have to bathe your cat. It would end up being a horrifying experience to you and the kitty IMHO.

Maybe some of the other cat experts can offer their advise.

No,No,No...I've had cats all my life and very clean ones, there is never a need to bath a cat, unless he's fallen into pile of foul-smelling stuff
Also you might be risking your life!!!
Not good for you or your cat!!!

Talking Cat Bathing injuries not covered by BCBS.

I can only imagine you are attempting lunacy in considering bathing your cat.LOL
I have 3 Siamese and that is a cat with attitude to be sure. None of them have ever been subjected to bathing and they have no smell at all.
I cannot say two of them have never been in water however since one of them used to like to walk on the edge of our antique enameled tub while we were bathing. Cats cannot grip slippery surfaces and more than once Mr. Pye has misstepped and taken a header into the bath water. His next manuvere is to climb out of the soapy water with the speed of a fur covered rocket and using your body as a launch pad to higher and dryer ground. Needless to say injury can result as well as having to deal with a cat that is sure you have soaked them on purpose.
The only other time I have seen our cats in water was one day when I was topping off the chemical balance of the water in our hot tub. The tub is normally covered with a leather covered foam top on which the cats like to lay and absorb sunlight from the skylights and warmth from the hot tub cover.
One day Charlie jumped from the floor to the top of the hot tub-fully expecting to land on his favorite perch and rest. What he landed on was the water of the open hot tub. He came out like a submarine launched ABM and would not speak to us for hours. (A brief respite form his normal chattering I must admit).
Cats and water do not a happy mix make.

The funny thing is,two of my cats just love to play in water,as long as it's on their own terms.Right now we periodically empty the water on the poolcover and Chico and Vinnie will play with the hoses and get soaked, totally oblivious to the fact they don't like water To top it all off,Vinnie my white cat will happily roll himself in soil after being soaking wet,so you can imagine the effect!! But a couple of hours later he is clean as a whistle again, without any interferance from me!!
Also since the two of them like to drink from the tap, they occasionally get their heads soaked and it's ok with them My Rocky however, only goes near water to sustain his life
But putting them in a tub....nooooo way
