New Member-Furbutt Rescuer
I am new here thanks for letting me join! I have been lurking for a few days and figured I should join. I have learned so much already and hope that I can help and learn more as well!
I am 28, single, no children (my kitties are my babies). I have two cats, one named Diva who is 5 years old and is a total sweetheart. She is quite a big cat (I am not sure if she is a Maine Coon or not). I rescued her from an abusive owner who was on drugs and put her in the microwave (NO JOKE) to see what would happen. Needless to say, I was there and snatched her away. She is absolutely beautiful. My second baby is just 10 months old. He was severely abused and left outside in -40 C temperatures, among other horrendous abuse I would never want to have to tell anyone else. He has neurological problems among other issues (I will discuss this in another forum, as I have MANY questions about this). I am not sure what breed he is, if anything? I don't care what he is he is adorable. I am a behviour therapist with Autistic children, it is a very rewarding job and I LOVE what I am doing with my life. I enjoy many different activities (listed on my profile). If anyone is interested I will post pics of my furbutts! Thanks for reading!!! Heidi AKA MomOfDiva&Simon

Welcome to the Forum,I like you already
Simon and Diva are beautiful and very lucky to have been saved by you, some kitties just seem to have guardian angels I once a long time ago had a Maine Coon, although I LOVE all cats,MC's are my favourites. Mine only made it to 21lb's at 3 yrs old, before he got too sick  but they, especially male, grow to be very big and beautiful. One of the very endearing characteristics is their big lumbering calm and sweet demeanor and cute little tufts on their ears, big bushy tails.. It's heartbreaking to think anyone could abuse little Simon, but I know it's often a very real fact...but Simon hopefully will do well under your care, love can work wonders. Everyone here will help with any questions you might have to do the very best to make Simon as well as can be.

Thank you, I think they are both beautiful too! I have tons of pictures of them, but I guess I should probably post them in the Photography section?
Does anyone know if Diva is a Maine Coon? She does have the personality, and she is a big cat...any ideas on Simon what breed (if any) he may be?Thanks everyone! *I am on vacation for two weeks, so I am sure I will be doing a lot of posting here*

Thank You
Thank you Luba! I am sure he has quite a few brothers and sisters running around. There was a litter that was at the local shelter just after I rescued him; 5 babies that look identical to him. If I had more space, I would be taking in more cats and would start taking in dogs. Alas, that is not to be...not right now but soon!

To Chico2
Chico2:
Diva is just like that temperament wise. When Simon came home with me, she stepped right in and became his surrogate mommy. She bathed him and really took care of him. Is it possible she might have grown a bit more, because she seems a little taller than she was last year (she is 5 now). She is definitely gaining weight...at this rate she's going to be a mountain lionness!

Gorgeous!
Chico2- He looks like such a happy handsome boy! I had an orange tabby when I was growing up, for 18 years, he was definitely MY cat. Sweet and cuddly. I still get sad thinking about him and that was almost 11 years ago. Rocky looks so sweet!

Welcome to the Board.
Beautiful kitties! Simon looks so soft! I don't know how anyone can abuse any animal. I have such a hard time wrapping my mind around that. My son just took in a Shar Pei that was being abused - the pup is only 9 weeks old and this is his third home.

Sad..
Kandy- Thank you, I think they are both amazing survivor kitties!
It literally makes my heart hurt when I hear about abuse towards animals. I have read things on this board that have stuck in my mind. I just can't believe some people in this world have no conscience and can harm an animal. I think there needs to be stiff penalties for those who harm animals. Enough is enough! If I could, I would adopt as many cats and dogs as I could...just not enough space yet to do so... Anyway thanks for the welcome!
