Liver and spleen tumors

Just thought I would see if there is any recommendations for this situation although it does not look good.

My sister-in-law's cat is 17. He had lost some weight and the vet suspected some abdominal masses so he had an ultrasound today that revealed a tumor on the spleen and multiple in the liver. They were told prednisone may help to shrink the tumors but looks like it is a situation where not much can be done.

Is surgery an option? I know the liver is quite capable of recovery from surgery, but no idea how the spleen would be affected, or if removing it is feasible.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I'm not sure if surgery is an option or if they just don't want to put him through surgery. She said it was a palliative situation. Main concern is he just isn't eating although it always seems like he wants to.
