Cat full of fleas, not sure I can admin ''revolution''

Hi everyone,

I am a cat lover beyond reason, and this is my problem.

There is a convenience store on my street and they have a cat.
The cat is friendly to me when I go to the store and lets me pet her.
She even purrs when I scratch her chin!

The problem is that she is SO full of fleas, she has open sores on her back, and I can see tons of fleas moving about on her.

The owners of the store are Chinese and don't speak much English or French.
I talked with the woman yesterday and told her her cat was very badly off and had fleas.
She showed me a tube of vitamins for cats that she gives to the cat, but I told her that this would not take care of the problem...
I offered to give the cat ''revolution'' at my own expense... this animal is suffering and I just can't stand to see her that way.

I doubt the owners would be willing to take her to the vet, and I personally cannot do it myself because of the cost... I can spare a tube of revolution, but I simply can't pay for the vet.

I am not even certain the woman understood what I meant when I told her "I take care of the cat, I fix for free."

My problem is that I am not sure I would be able to administer the revolution treatment to the cat on my own, as I am not that familiar with the cat...(some of my cats I have a hard time to get it done to them and I know them very well)
Of course I have only ONE chance to put on the revolution on the cat, if I miss, the cat will run away and hide and I will be left with a wasted tube of medecine...

I cannot communicate enough with the woman to ask if the cat can be picked up by her and held while I give her the meds...

She speaks Mandarin Chinese and I only speak English and French and I do not know any Chinese person who could translate for me at the store, or even just write in Chinese what I want to do to the cat!
This is heartbreaking for me who just want's this cat to stop itching and feel better.

Please, and I know this is a long shot... but if anyone on this site speaks Mandarin Chinese and lives in Verdun Montreal, could you please PM me and be my translator by coming to the store with me? If anyone knows any one who can write that language can you PM me to see that we could write something so that she would understand what I want to do to her cat...

Or if any one has any advice on how I could myself administer the revolution treatment to the cat without 'missing my chance'. I don't really know anyone who could help me in handling the cat except my mother, and she will not be in my area until about another month and that's too long to leave the cat like this.
I did think of asking a vet tech at my vet clinic to come help out as a volunteer to give the meds, but I am not sure and can't guarantee the cat will be there when we will go... (the cat sometimes sleeps in the basement of the convenience store or is simply no where to be seen and I don't want to waste the vet techs time...)

I also don't want to make any situations where the cat would be taken away from them or put to sleep or anything of the sort. I simply just want the cat to get better and have a good life.
This cat has been there at the convenience store for at least 3 years, since I noticed her when I moved here 3 years ago.
I am sure they love their cat very much, but are probably just not really aware as to how to care for her.

She is a wonderful cat and I enjoy seeing her every time I go to the store, but I would like to see her in better health/shape than she is now.

I understand that for such a serious case of fleas, two or more treatments can be needed, and I am willing to cover the cost of that, (I buy revolution in boxes of 6 tubes, as I have 9 cats here at home, and I am willing to share this medecine with this cat in need no problem).

Once again, please help me in dealing with this urgent situation... It breaks my heart that she is in this situation and that I am incapable to help out.

Can anyone please help me in helping this poor cat?

Because revolution is a topical treatment I would not give it to the cat while she has open sores. The ointment does spread a bit on it's own & could come into contact with the sores that way or if she licks the ointment then an open sore the stuff would still get into the wound.
Perhaps check with your vet tech if there are other options for you to help until the sores are healed

Hi everyone,

I know this is an older thread, but I just want to update...
I was able to get a picture of the cat taken by a friend of mine on her phone and show it to the vet tech. Considering that the cat's scars and sores were mostly on her rump, I was given the all clear to administer the revolution treatment!

I am currently in the process of 'taming' the cat enough for her to let me put the treatment on her.
I really want this to work and not end up with an open and wasted tube of the precious medecine.

I am planning on putting it on her this Thursday or Friday!

I will let you all know how it went and how my dear cat is doing.
