Salmonella outbreak in peanut butter - stop using in dog treats

I haven't seen any warnings listed here so I want to advise everyone who uses peanut butter in their dog treats/kongs etc to stop using all peanut butter until the situation is resolved.

Peanut Butter recalled due to salmonella

Peanut recall also includes dog biscuits

FDA Updated Peanut Recall List 1 Feb 09

List of recalled products produced in Canada and US

gee .. I was hungry and didn't know what to eat until I ready this thread, then I went and got my PB and crackers! YUM! checked the list and my store brand wasn't on it and neither is Kraft, which are the only kinds I get, so no worries here.
Every time I see these food scares it makes me cringe to think how really we are at the mercy of food corporations, we have no idea what goes into our foods...

This has been big news down here...I live in one of the biggest peanut growing areas, right next door to one of the biggest peanut producers too, (but the growers are not the problem)
I should have posted something on this but I thought the news had traveled already.
My bad, I'm sorry folks.
Peanut's of any kind of processing from this main plant are considered tainted. The plant is shut down right now.

I tried all my life to like the stuff but never did. Good for me.
I do like Reese's Cups about once a year but I heard they are on the list now too.

Nutella is my peanut butter!

Thank You Growler!

I rarely had it as a kid cuz I've really never liked peanut butter either

My main goal in posting this thread was aimed at those who use it as a dog treat for stuffing kongs and for those who buy the peanut/peanut butter dog cookies.

The recall information does say that name brand peanut butter in jars has not been affected and is considered safe.

I did go back and check all my dog treats to make sure none had peanut butter though.

I think it's better to get dozens of notifications on the same thing rather than not get it at all.

At least 529 people in the U.S. have been sickened and at least eight may have died because of the outbreak. No illnesses in Canada have been reported but a Canadian did become ill after consuming a product bought in the U.S. while traveling there
