Omega 3 fatty acids (fish oils) help improve hair coat and naturally reduce inflammation.

Omega 6 fatty acids help improve hair coat and are the best to increase the shine of hair. If allergies are present, then I would lean more towards Omega 3s than 6s though.

Also anti-dander human shampoos such as Head and Shoulders and Selsin (sp?) Blue work well.

You might try switching foods too. What are you feeding your dog? I have noticed with my dog, certain types of foods cause him to have dandruff. Some dogs are sensitive to various ingredients in the food, or could be allergic to certain ingredients. Right now mine is on Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit and has no dander whatsoever. However, that hasn't been the case with several other types of foods he's been on in the past. What works for one dog may not work for another though, so you'd have to probably try a few different brands for a month or two and see the effect that way.
