Constipated dog constipation
Hi There,
I found this on the net when I was doing research for my own dog...and I also found something that may be of help on this site Hope they help, Gravy http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?threadid=1215 Constipation Q: What can I give a small dog for constipation? A: The first thing to do when a little long haired dog has constipation is to check their rectal area. Many times we have seen constipation caused by hair getting stuck together across the rectum and blocking release of stool. If this isn't the problem, it is usually safe to use stool softeners containing dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (ducosate) such as Colace (Rx), 1 capsule twice a day. But it would be better to talk this over with your vet if possible before medicating since constipation is often a symptom of some other problem. It is a good idea to figure out what the underlying cause is if possible. Mike Richards, DVM |

Thanks for your replies, it turned out to be somthing as simple as changing her surroundings and her routine for a week. We were at the cabin when it started, the day after we got home she was back to normal.
