Yeah lots of weird stuff on the go there
IF the puppy did it, wouldn't you wke up at the first cry, so that it woudn't have gotten to that point The poor child and the poor puppy.

something is very fishy with the reporting of this story.....i think this is another case of headline grabbing media outlets.....parents are charged with child desertion and negligence......how do you desert your child if you are sleeping right next to the baby

Poor kid had to sleep sitting up?
... and this little piggy tastes like roaaaaast beef... (sorry but the completely absurd rubs me funny- we seriously need more news about great homes instead of drug-induced stupor houses ) |

Just a thought that at six weeks that puppy should have still been with it's mother. If it nurses that hard she would have soon set it straight.

Baby's toes
I heard that there may have been a ferret in the house as well as the puppy. It is all very bizarre and obviously the authorities don't think these parents are fit to care for this child.

I agree - the story makes no sense. The article also leaves out too much - I cannot imagine a small baby puppy chewing off toes and fingers. If the parents were high on something, THEY might well have done something they do not even recall and the puppy has become a convenient scapegoat. I cannot imagine a parent not waking up in that period of time if a dog was inflicting enough damage that the digits could not even be reattached (That is significant damage, even small children whose fingers have been say, somehow cut off or completely slashed in a farming incident of some kind, surgeons can often reattach if the child gets to the trauma center and the OR in time and the vessels can be saved. There is alot bizarre about this story and I think it is a good thing these parents are in custody, One can only hope the child is receiving good care!!! (and I do not mean just medical). Think back to small puppies that age "chewing your fingers". It could hurt an infant certainly but their teeth are not that well developed and I recall having a puppy chew my fingers at that age - before I would teach the dog not to do it - the teeth were just not that sharp tho I do not know the developmental situation re dogs as well as I do cats. And who knows a puppy that will chew on one item for that period of time. The baby would move and something else would grab its attention. I know they can do damage in that period of time, but it was usually a shoe - and a small piece - or a steak that one got into because I foolishly left the groceries on the floor.
No, this makes no sense!!
