Is it just one eye? It almost looks like a broken blood vessel? Did one of the cats maybe scratch her in the eye? or maybe she hopped into something sharp.

Onster that article does SAY anything LOL

it didn't just appear i think it was always there but she doesn't stand still it's hard to look at her eye. She used to have a wound above the eye so i don't know if it's because of that....whatever made the wound hit her eye too?? I dunno

I got hit in the eye and I had a big red blotch (in the white part) was told it was a broken blood vessel, but not a problem since it was in the white part but had it been in the coloured or black part, that would have been more serious (cornea damage)

jiorji, is that a white spot in the first pic--both in the pupil and extending behind the iris?

Just a word of caution...I wouldn't take JG to just any vet but one who specializes in rabbits and exotic animals. It's been our unfortunate experience that there is a difference. Here's a link to one in Montreal and one on the South Shore.

umm ...yes??

well the eye is actually flat and then there's this transparent dome on top. So the white stuff isn't on top like a film...it's right on the black stuff...i tried to poke her in both eyes and this eye was a bit slow to react

and then there's the white eyelid thing that's coming out

poor baby

You mean the black stuff that's the hole through the iris into the eye...where light passes through it to the retina? Likely, the eye is slower to react because some of the light is blocked by the white thing. Does the pupil contract if you shine a flashlight in her eye?

It looks like there's something growing in there--or a foreign object. What did the wound above her eye look like? Any possibility that she might have been stabbed there?

HAZEL!!! your choice of words doens't make me feel any better!!

i haven't tested the light thing...i don't have a flashlight...OOOHH maybe i do...but what are the chances of her standing still??

the wound was almost healed when i got her...but it was probably like an animal scratch ...but the fur was pulled

i'd look this up but i have a phobia of looking at pictures of eyes that aren't "healthy"...so i can't.

cos i'm pretty sure the same thing happens to humans if something hurts the eye

Sorry

If it were a scratch, the white spot would be on the cornea (the clear dome). This looks to be something inside. Better a foreign body than something growing, jiorji.

I know there's a rabbit site out there somewhere that might have some info. I'll see if I can find it...

I can't find the site! I keep losing the connection while I'm waiting for pages to load...

I'm thinking that it was a site I saw because someone posted it here--so that that member sees your thread and finds the link, jiorji.

The white piece almost looks like the shape of a cat's claw (like the pieces that sort of flake off as they sharpen them)??? Has she had any run ins with the cats?

same

foster rabbit lady said that she needs to see the vet (of course) but she also said that it could just be an abscess but she can't tell for sure. But that means she'll need antibiotics.

I just hope this doesn't diminish her chances to get adopted. I was hoping that the Easter adoption would be it for her....especially since i'll have a car to take her there.

maybe if she wears an eye patch...nobody will know

ok we're back from the vet.

Something scratched Jasmine's eye and got infected.

When i took her from the SPCA she had all kinds of wounds on her body, one above her eye, so i'm guessing what attacked her then, also scratched up her eye. I've only had her for a month and that little eye scratch was always there.
There's assumption that my cats attacked her  but i would've taken notice as I'm always here with them when she's out.
So now she's taking some stuff to clear up the infection.

I hope they don't take my bunny away

ok i had to clear that up. I had to explain that the cats would never hurt the bunny, and you know you have to consider all the options, so my cats weren't having a finger pointed at them, but when you don't know someone's pets it's good to ask questions.

But all's good now. Jasmine will be ok...until tomorrow...when I have to give her her medicine
