Salmon & Potato Biscuits (almost grain free!)

Here's a recipe for some easy biscuits I just made for Helix that he enjoys:

Salmon & Potato Biscuits

1 8 oz can salmon in water (no salt)
1/2 cup chopped parsley
2 eggs with shells (wash well)
1 cup flax meal
1 cup potato flour
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

1. Blend salmon, parsley and eggs until smooth. Add flax meal and blend until mixed.
2. Pour into a bowl and stir in flour and garlic powder if using. Add a little more flour if needed to make a soft dough. Roll onto a floured surface and cut with a cookie cutter into desired shape (or you can just cut into squares with a knife).
3. Bake on a cookie sheet at 375 F for 15-20 minutes until they are as soft or crispy as you want them to be (I like leaving them soft for Helix).
Store in refrigerator or freezer.

Smelly?

They sound good, but how smelly are they? And how long can you freeze them for?

If you're looking for something smelly enough for training, I would use the fishy fudge recipe that I also posted. Otherwise, they sort of smell like salmon salad sandwiches when you bake them- it's not a bad smell at all and the addition of parsley mellows them out a bit. We give one to Helix before bed- the recipe made about 2 dozen dog bones (about 2" X 1") so I think they'll last over a month for us, but I would guess you could keep them in the freezer in a ziploc bag for maybe 6 months.
