Salmon & Potato Biscuits (almost grain free!)
Here's a recipe for some easy biscuits I just made for Helix that he enjoys:
Salmon & Potato Biscuits 1 8 oz can salmon in water (no salt) 1/2 cup chopped parsley 2 eggs with shells (wash well) 1 cup flax meal 1 cup potato flour 1 tsp garlic powder (optional) 1. Blend salmon, parsley and eggs until smooth. Add flax meal and blend until mixed. 2. Pour into a bowl and stir in flour and garlic powder if using. Add a little more flour if needed to make a soft dough. Roll onto a floured surface and cut with a cookie cutter into desired shape (or you can just cut into squares with a knife). 3. Bake on a cookie sheet at 375 F for 15-20 minutes until they are as soft or crispy as you want them to be (I like leaving them soft for Helix). Store in refrigerator or freezer. |

Smelly?
They sound good, but how smelly are they? And how long can you freeze them for?

If you're looking for something smelly enough for training, I would use the fishy fudge recipe that I also posted. Otherwise, they sort of smell like salmon salad sandwiches when you bake them- it's not a bad smell at all and the addition of parsley mellows them out a bit. We give one to Helix before bed- the recipe made about 2 dozen dog bones (about 2" X 1") so I think they'll last over a month for us, but I would guess you could keep them in the freezer in a ziploc bag for maybe 6 months.
