18mth old Peeing in Crate :-(
Hello All
![]() Ok - I'm desperate. We adopted Sophie from a loving family 2 weeks ago. She does not pee in her crate overnight - but does during the day a problem reported to be "sporadic" by the previous family but 90% occurance with us. I've made her crate smaller, taken out the blankets, take her out before crating, arranged for her to be taken out 4 hours after being in her crate, exercise her before & after being crated (walks, play, etc.), have her on a regular feeding schedule (twice a day), put toys in her crate (kong w/treat), trying Phermone calming sprays, not made a fuss prior to crating or on un-crating. Cleaned the crate with enzyme eating cleaners. She willingly goes to her crate & even dislikes coming out in the morning to get her day started (not a morning dog - lol who knew?) I can't think of anything else to do. She did have a few accidents during the day in the house but 4 of 17 days only. HELP! |

I would start with taking her to the vet. It might be a urinary track infection.

Good luck , usually it's not too expensive to treat and it will be the end of the peeing problem.

My dog does the same thing, Even after taking him for a pee 2mins before leaving him. It seems to be a seperation anxiety issue. The vet does not think its UT infection as he can hold it for 12 hours throughout the night.
Ive tried all the same things you have and my wife called barkbusters and we still cant figure it out. |

How big is the crate? They say that if the crate is too big for the dog then they will tend to use part of it as a bathroom. Was she crate trained with the other family? Where did they get her from?
