Single protein/grain free
Someone on this forum was looking for single protein/grain free (no chicken or beef) dog food. The good news is there is one, the bad news it's not in canada yet. I called and they are waiting for approval. It's "Canine Caviar" venison and split pea. They use pearl millet in their grain diets. I may give it a try when it comes. What does the forum think???

That was me looking for it. Did they have any idea when it would be coming?
I am wondering now if my dog really is allergic to fish, or if it happens to be something else that is environmental that triggered her when I fed her the fish based food. Plus I think part of it is just habit...ugh! Anyway, thanks for the heads up!! The food looks interesting-only cooked for 6 seconds. At what temp though? And is there any danger or benefit in this short cooking? |

We have similar stories with our dogs. I swear mine reacts to all foods too. I did do a blood test that revealed no common allergies though. They have been trying this get the canadian market for sometime now, she says it will be here but can't say when. Days to months.

Sorry to hear that your dog also seems to be allergic to everything-but glad I am not the only one!!!
I'll keep an eye on this one. Thanks for the heads up! |

My dog went through major intestinal surgery last August, and I went through a few foods afterwards, trying to find one that didn't irritate his sensitive stomach.
I finally settled on California Naturals Lamb Meal Grain Free kibble. It is single protein, and better still has only three food ingredients, lamb, potatoes and peas. It also comes in a venison version. We switched our other dog onto it from his Orijen puppy food and it has stopped the gas and occasional runs he was having. |
