Struvite Crystals & Corn Allergy

My 9 year old dog, Sophie, just had surgery to remove a large struvite stone. I have been to three different vets about this issue. Each vet has simply recommended the pet food to prevent struvites that is manufactured by the pet food company they are affiliated with.

Unfortunately, every food I've found that states it is specifically for prevention of struvite crystals has corn as the first or second ingredient, and Sophie is allergic to corn.

Sophie doesn't really like wet food (she drinks tons of water, so moisture isn't really a problem), and I don't have the time to make her food, so those really aren't options for me.

I am looking for recommendations for a DRY, grain-free, high-quality food that will help prevent struvite crystals from forming. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

I know you don't want to hear this but if you really want to help your dog this is the easiest and healthiest way because I don't think you are going to solve your problems with kibble. Wet food, or at least one meal of wet/raw a day.

Moisture is required to keep the kidneys and bladder flushed, and I don't care what anybody says, a tongue is not efficient for water intake. Try eating crackers all day, then lick water from a bowl . Dogs are meant to eat moisture ladened food, that is about 80% moisture. They don't have cups they can drink from to get a lot of water.

So now that I have said what you didn't want to hear, I hope you do give it some thought about the efficiency of licking up water and reconsider to even a partial wet/raw diet.
