Exclamation My poor kitty

Tess is a one year old Tabby who has been healthy until now.
She has been flaking on the outside of her ears, and her fur is growing thin as well on her ears. I'm not sure what to think of this. The inside of one of her ears has red marks that are dry and flaky too.
Poor thing, her ears are sensitive to the touch and she won't let me near them to look closely. I've checked for ticks or fleas, but I can't find anything.
Help!
K
