I would make a quick vet visit. Licking of the lips like that is a sure sign of discomfort or pain. Do you know if the dog ate anything that would cause an obstruction?

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

I have to agree with Winston that a trip to the vet would be a good idea. Since the behaviour has continued for several days, it's worth checking out. Keep us posted and good luck.

Always good to have a vet check this out. If they can't find anything wrong, I would have some bloodwork run to check to make sure that everything is okay, and there aren't any gut infections, etc. Blockages (as mentioned above) would be worth a trip to the ER, as would Bloat/Torsion.

Licking like that can be a sign of nausea. If there is a lot of gastric reflux or acidity, it can also cause discomfort in the throat and esophagus area. The cause of those things would take some diagnostics.

Good luck, hope that the vet finds something easy to fix.

I would check the dog for Lyme disease , is your dog seen stiff in any way ? Marty is being treated for Lyme disease and has the same symptoms as your dog.
