Orijen Regional Red...I like it because its Grain Free and No Chicken.. he had bad gas before this one, I had him on Acana Large Breed Puppy I switched to see if maybe it was the Chicken bothering him plus there was some Oats in the Acana. I did Google how to help it but it said to try giving him some peppermint leaves with his food or Charcoal from the pet store..I just want to try minimize the amount hes letting go, it can be toxic some nights..I hope I find something soon to help |

I have read of a few people complaining about bad gas on high protein diets (Acana and Orijen are high in protein compared to other foods). Some dogs can not handle the high protein.
My dog is on Orijen as well but he has no gas or diarrhea and digests it well. You might want to consider going to a completely different brand to see if it helps his digestion and gas. Check http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ and shop for some other brands that might fit your requirements. Give him a few months on a different food to see if it helps, if not then you can just switch foods back. You might want to talk to the vet about it the next time you see them as well. |

Maybe once this food is low we'll try going to a different brand lower in protein but the Vet did say Boxers are Gassy dogs, I talked to a tech this morning about it... |

Orjen is very rich for dogs. Esp. sensitive Boxer tummies.
Our Boxers have always done well with Natural Balance (grain free) and Innova & Wellness. You also might want to try adding some plain natural yogurt

Well we were recommended to try Acana Lamb & Apple and so far his poo isnt as strong smelling so hopefully it cuts down his indoor smells... If that still doesnt help I will for sure look into the Brands you have mentioned. The Acana Lamb & Apple doesnt have Chicken and is way lower Protein then Orijen Regional Red we tried too, so hopefully the lower protein makes a difference and settles his tummy more... Thanks Again, I'll keep everyone updated how he's handling the Lamb & Apple. |
