I don't know either of those, can you spell it out? Tell us about his/her history?

Feline herpes virus or calcivirus? No cure, but you can give your cat L-lysine as an immune system booster to minimize URI symptoms.

My foster kittens had Calicivirus and they all lived. They had the strain that affects joints, though, not the lungs. I had to force feed them every two hours with a plastic syringe (watered down canned kitten food), take them into the vet daily for sub q fluids and general check up, took their temperature three times a day to ensure it didn't rise above 40 (one did and the vet had to give this kitten almost double the daily dose because she was afraid the cat would die, this kitten had to stay at the vet for the day to be monitered) and administered an anti imflammatory prescribed by the vet to keep their temp and the pain in their joints down so they could walk to their momma to nurse. It took 4 days to recover. There is no doubt in my mind if I didn't nurse them the way I did they would not have survived. I did not wrap them in blankets because their fever was too high.
Have you taken it to the vet, as this can be deadly this cat should be under the care of a vet? There is no cure as it is a virus and like I said, it can be deadly. Do you know how to check your cats temperature? If not, you need to have it taken by a vet. The calcivirus can cause extremely high temperatures causing coma and death. Normal is about 38.5 C. If it rises over 40 your cat needs emergency vet care. Your cat can become dehydrated very quickly so please ensure she is drinking enough water and continues to eat. Check twice daily for dehydration by gently pinching the back of her neck and watch how quickly the skin goes back into place. The slower, the more dehydrated, if you cat is dehydrated she will require sub q fluids administered by a vet. Some vets will prescribe antibiotics just in case there is a secondary bacterial infection, but it will not help the virus. The Calicivirus is extremely contagious so if you have other pets you may want to isolate this one. All food dishes and litterboxes will have to be sterilized as this virus lives for quite a while on surfaces. Your vet will be able to give you more info on this. Please update us on your kitty.
