my dog ben

my dog ben weights 85 lbs and the vet said he over weight he a akita mix 5years old and the vet said to gave him hip and joint plus after he been on it for a few days he start to vomit we feed him 2 cups of food a day is this right for him as he walks 6 miles a day

JUST ME, I WOULD SAY NO-- 85 LBS TO ME WOULD BE 3-4 CUPS PER DAY, TRY 2 CUPS AM ,2 CUPS PM, WHAT FOOD IS HE ON brenda and the pins.

It's best to feed smaller meals throughout the day instead of one large meal to avoid problems with BLOAT.

There's no way for anyone to be able to answer your question about how much to feed when we don't know what food is being provided.

An 85lb. dog that is walking 6 miles a day definitely needs more than 2 cups of food per day. What brand of food are you feeding him?
