sick irish setter
I recently went on a week vacation, leaving my dog with a friend. Whilke away, he stopped eating, showed signs of fever. Within three days he died. Do you have any ideas what would have caused such a sudden problem. he was 8 years of age.

Wow, I'm sorry for your loss.
Without more info it's impossible to say - congestive heart failure, poisoning, renal failure, obstruction, bloat....the list can get pretty long. What does your friend have to say? (And why didn't he take your dog to a vet!?)

What a terrible homecoming, what your friend did or did not do is of no consequence now,but it's very sad he did not realize the dog was sick....your vet should be able to tell you why he died,if he did an athopsy(spelling?)which they usually do if it's uncertain how the animal died. Poor puppy!!
It stretches the importance to leave emergency numbers even to your vet when you go away.
