Cat with a bum sore - Answered by Dr. Van Lienden
I noticed the other day that my cat had a small irritation on her bottom. I would say it is about the size of a rain drop and just slightly pink but not red. She has not stopped eating, drinking, or using the restroom so I am wondering if this is something that happens with most cats? I know a cats toungue is quite rough and could that be the reason her buttocks is sore....from her licking it? Should I take her to the vet even though she is in no distress at all? Thank you in advance!

Yes, take her to the vet, you dont know what it is and what its doing to her. It might be something small now, that will get a lot worse if you wait.

Yeah, take her to the vet to be sure. In case it's an anal gland problem.

Is it a hot spot? Did she has fur that got tanlged or knotted in that spot? Cause that will cause the hair to kinda clump and fall off leaving a irritated spot behind...

Yes, have this lesion examined. It may be something as simple as self induced trauma from the need to bother a blocked anal sac duct, or something a little more complicated as a small tumor that is operable at this time.
