there are plenty of books on photoshop out there, which may be the best way to go. Photoshop isn't exactly intuitive, but after some playing around, you can get the basics. I took a few classes on it, but I went to an art college.
even so, new versions are contantly being developed, with new bells and whistles. so essentially we're all continually "learning" with these types of programs. I think a class may be a waste of money, unless you were using this program on a daily basis for work. If it's just for fun w/ your own photos and artwork, I think a book is the best way to go. There are many to choose from.... i.e., photoshop w/ digital photography, photoshop for dummies, photoshop [insert version # here], official guides, etc.. |

Yeah, I found a book online a while ago, but I just don't have the patience... It's so much easier for me to learn while doing it than to read it and expect to remember... I know how to touch up and blur (thanks to you Jessi! ), which is all I need for now.
But I think that pic is cool. |

Photoshop doesn't come with tutorials that I know of. I have "the official photoshop handbook" here at home, but honestly, I've never used it. If there is anything in particular you want to know, feel free to PM me for tips, I'd be happy to help if I can. (Or I could dust off my book and look it up for you)
a good place to start is to open a small photo, 72 dpi (screen resolution). Once you have that, start going through the tools to see what they do, then start going through the menus to see what they do, etc.... The reason I suggest a low res image to start with is for the filters, the larger the image, the longer it will take to process the filter (or effect). |

that'll teach you to be carefull what you ask for. i have an etch-a-sketch around here somewhere, I can send you that if you want
Glad you got it loaded without any problems, sorry I can't be of more help I remember when I first got it on my mac, it was far to much program for me so I stayed with photosuite. In a few more hours you should be able to produce something even more abstract |

I know I know, it is to free the background of the picture let me try and explain........ take a picture the go into file selct new type in the size you want and make sure that on the bottom it says transparent if not make it tranparent, click ok a new box will apear.... then go back to the picture take the magic wand and click the background you want to dissaper.... then click on select and click on inverse.. then click on the move tool when you put your curor over the picture( design) not the background you will see sissors click on the desing and move it to the transpartent box you then have a picture free of the background......
if you want all backgroun removed press shift and click the magic wand where ever you don't like the background ie.. if some of it is white and other parts of it is green lets say as long as you hold down shift the two will be cut away does that help or am i babbleing
