pooping in the house
I have a pair of golden retrievers, about a year old. They came to live with us in early december of last year. Approx. 2 months. They are very well trained to go potty out side and numerous other things. But the last two days, the male has pooped in the house. Never done this before. Last night, he was in his crate, and still pooped. We work nights. We usually feed them twice a day. 2 cups in the morn. 6:30-7:00 and 2 cups approx 6:00 in the evening. This has been the schedule since they came home. We had them in to see the vet right after we got them and they both were given a clean bill of health. Could the times they eat be a problem? Anyone know about how long from the time they eat till its time to go outside? Maybe we are not giving them enough time when we take them outside. They are really good about going, thats why this is frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to pets.ca shelad .
Some dogs will eliminate immediately after eating and others will go several hours later. Is your male pooping in the house only at night after you leave or in the day too? Are there any signs of separation anxiety once you leave (panting, excessive drooling, crying, howling etc)? Also, are his stools firm/normal? Were they checked for intestinal parasites at their previous vet appointment?

Thank you. Yes they were checked for parasites. I dont know of any issues when we leave. The neighbors haven't said anything. And yes it only happened at night. Normally, we leave them out during the night expecting them to sleep since its dark. During the day they stay in their crate. Since monday nights episode, we decided to crate them tuesday night. I couldn't believe he went in the crate. He eats well, plays well, and my back yard is desert, and he has supervised access to run, run, run. This is the first problem of this nature.
