Exclamation My dog was spayed now there is a hard lump

My 7 month year old female boston was spayed 2.5 weeks ago. It was done with a lazer and all was well at first. I took her in because it was infected and we were told to put polysporn on it. Then on her cut she had a big lump that was squishy and red that had poped( it looked like a keloid ). Under her incision it is like there is a hard lump that is a bit bigger then a toonie. Any suggestions on what it might be? She is acting fine she us a very hyper active dog.

Thanks.

It's pretty common for pups to get hard scar tissue directly under the incision, sometimes very prominent, sometimes for the whole length of the incision. BUT, when in doubt, it's always best to have a vet or tech look at it...most will recheck a surgical site for no charge.

The part that "popped" sounds like it may have been a small abcess. Abcesses are usually squishy to the touch, but if there is a lot of pressure it could be fairly hard feeling. Is the skin normal colored or does it look inflamed at all?

Our Mollie was recently spayed and got an infection. I started this thread back then;

There were a couple great points received from fellow members that may help with your little girl.

How is she doing tonight?
