Dog broke out in hives! Bad owner, bad owner!

This story may make me seem like an irresponsible owner but I didn't know that some flowers where extremely dangerous to dogs. Iknew they were if they ate them but these never touched his snout. I had brought home some beautful flowers from my mother in laws funeral last week. Within minutes capone broke out in hives. Now this is 12:32 am and ofcourse we had to rush this dog to the emerg. vet for some shots. I felt so bad because I should have known better. My poor husband just lost his mom suddenly and had to go out so late and didn't get home till 2:30 am. Just letting you know my experience as I didn't know. Hes fine now and happy. For a minute my hubby said he was hulcinating and acting funny at the vet. So thank the lord hes fine! Just wanting to give a heads up although I think I was the only one who didn't know.

Well I did check up on what flowers I had in the bouquet but they all have really weird names I cant remember.. Just be careful , I know roses are ok but I will certainly check before I bring anymore home.

This happened to one of our dogs once - it was bizarre! We thought she had been stung by a bee or something, as she just got these lumps *all over* her body (started at her face then went to the rest of her body).

It was so long ago but I think we took her to the vet right away but by the time we got here there they had already started going down...

Sorry that wasn't much help at all, was it :P
